McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act

St. Stephens Indian School McKinney-Vento Homeless Children and Youth programs ensure that all homeless children and youth attending BIE schools have equal access to a free and appropriate education and counter the barriers these students face these students have equal opportunity in receiving a quality education.

If a child or youth is sharing housing, living in emergency or transitional housing, living in cars, parks, abandoned buildings, or substandard housing, or who lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence may be considered homeless. If your child fall in this category, they may be eligible to receive or be provided services under the McKinney-Vento Act.

Please complete the document BIE McKinney-Vento Enrollment/Referral form. The schools liaison will make a determination if the student/students are eligible to receive services for our McKinney-Vento Program.

If living situations change during the school year, please notify the schools McKinney-Vento liaison, and if we need additional information, the school liaison will contact you.
